SMELLY WELL WATER

SMELLY WELL WATER

WE ELIMINATE SMELLS AND ODORS FROM WELL WATER

Well owners and well water users across Texas are familiar with and often suffer with the classic “Rotten Egg” Smell wells can produce.

That smell is caused by a sulfate-reducing bacterium coupled with a common mineral, sulfates. The result is Hydrogen Sulfide. Hydrogen Sulfide is a volatile, noxious gas with corrosive properties. Contamination levels may quickly and without notice increase dramatically, changing a nuisance to a major problem.  Left unattended it may degrade metal components throughout the home. It varies in odor from a classic rotten egg smell to a decaying or rotting odor in the water.

Smelly Water Problems

We have not found a region or locality Hydrogen Sulfide is not present in. Oddly, it can appear in one well and yet not another nearby one. It may also develop unexpectedly in wells with no prior history of contamination. A common property of gas contamination in water is the unusual ways that it comes out of the water. All of these manifestations can ordinarily be attributed to gas solubility. Gas solubility is determined by time, temperature and water pressure. The pH of the water also plays a role. Many well owners report the gas comes out of one faucet yet not another. People with gas contaminated wells also report that it will be especially odiferous in the morning or after returning from a trip. Very often gas may come out of hot water and not cold.

Smelly well water is not to be tolerated.

More information on these aspects of smelly water will be available during our recommended water test.
